..is that you have to experience it.

This morning there was a glorious, bright, beautiful rainbow in the field behind our house. As my daughter and I marvelled at it, I thought I would go and get the camera. "It's fading mum!" my daughter said, and as quickly as it arrived, it disappeared.

It occurred to me that a rainbow is just something you have to experience. Just observe it. Experience it. So what does a rainbow have to do with head lice?

I've been promoting Head Lice Awareness Day this week with limited excitement from people. And I'm now realizing why. Head Lice is something you have to experience. If you don't know what's it like, you don't get excited about it. If you meet someone who's been through it, boy, do they have a lot to tell you! It's almost a rite of passage in childhood. An experience as common as the common cold. Though it doesn't disappear as quickly as that rainbow, with a little patience and perseverance, it will pass. And you'll be wiser for the experience.
